Leather industry in Bangladesh has reported year-on-year growth of almost 40% for the first nine months of the current financial year, July 2013 to March 2014.
Country’s official export promotion bureau (EPB) has confirmed export earnings for the leather sector of more than $960 million for the nine-month period, compared to $670 million in the same period a year earlier.
The value of exports of leather increased by 40% to $381.1 million, while leather footwear exports increased in value by 31.7% to reach $410.2 million, and leathergoods achieved an increase of 62.8%, reaching almost $170 million.
